As the season of Christmas unfolds, I find myself reflecting on the extraordinary gift of Jesus Christ. Born in a manger, He brought salvation, hope, and light into a world in need. His birth reminds us of a love so profound that it transcends our human understanding. It is this love that has been my anchor through life’s fiercest storms, including the one I faced over a decade ago...yet feels like yesterday.
Jesus, The One whose birth we celebrate and the reason for the season of Christmas, didn’t just save me spiritually; He saved my life. He walked with me through the valley, held me through every uncertainty, and proved every doubter wrong.
This Christmas season, as I reflect on the miracle of His birth, I am overwhelmed with gratitude—not only for my survival but for the purpose and vision that have come from my journey. December 2024 has been transformative, not just because of the joy of Christmas, but because it has been a month of stepping into courage and opportunities I once upon a time only dreamed of.
Let me share why December 2024 has been a transformative one
In the past weeks, I had the privilege of introducing Brain Health to two global organizations: Accenture, one of the top four management consultancies, and Keller Williams Realty, an international real estate leader. These were more than speaking engagements—they were moments of stepping out in faith despite my insecurities and even the feeling at times of imposter syndrome.
I won’t lie; there were moments I questioned if I was enough. Could my story resonate? Was I equipped to influence corporate giants to prioritize Brain Health? But each time those doubts crept in, I was reminded of my journey. I had already overcome the impossible. These organizations saw value in my message, and that was confirmation enough.
The outcome
Both presentations were not only well-received but transformative. Keller Williams, in particular, is now in discussion about how to Brain Health can be included as a strategic agenda item for 2025. Imagine that—a seed planted in courage now set to grow into an organizational priority. I am grateful!
Lessons Learned
This season of opportunity has taught me profound lessons about faith, resilience, and action:
1. Faith Over Fear
Lesson: Your doubts may scream, but your faith must speak louder.
When I stood in front of executives and decision-makers, fear whispered, “You’re not enough.” But faith shouted, “You’re here for a reason....accept it” Choosing faith over fear enabled me to walk in my purpose.
To You: The next time fear holds you back, pause and acknowledge it—but then step forward anyway. Write down one area in your life where fear is stopping you, and take one bold action this week to overcome it.
2. Gratitude Unlocks Strength
Lesson: Gratitude isn’t just a mindset; it’s a superpower.
Before each presentation, I spoke to myself and grounded myself in gratitude—for the opportunity, for my story, and for the chance to impact lives. Gratitude shifted my focus from what I lacked to what I had to give.
To You: Begin and end each day by listing three things you’re grateful for. Use these moments to center yourself, especially before a big challenge.
3. Courage Changes the Narrative (it really does)
Lesson: Courage doesn’t erase imposter syndrome; it transforms it.
I didn’t wait to feel “ready.” I stepped forward anyway, and by doing so, I reframed my story—not just for myself, but for those who heard it.
To You: Identify one opportunity you’ve been avoiding because you don’t feel ready. Commit to taking the first step this month, even if it’s small. Do this daily and you will amaze yourself with the results.
A Cornerstone of Gratitude
As I look back on this December, I see a foundation of gratitude. Gratitude for the birth of Jesus Christ, who has been constant Rock. Gratitude for the neurologist’s words, which I’ve long since proved wrong. Gratitude for every opportunity, every “yes,” and every act of courage that has brought me to this point.
This Christmas, I hope you take a moment to reflect on the gifts you’ve received—not just the material ones, but the ones that have shaped your life. Imagine what is possible when gratitude becomes your cornerstone and faith your guide.
